Trial Databases – What do you think?

The library is pleased to offer trial access to several new collections. We welcome your feedback about these resources!  Please send comments to your librarian or to ref@pfw.edu.

JoVE Behavior and Psychology Education Video Journal Collections

Starting now and available through April 27, the library is offering trial access to JoVE, a peer-reviewed scientific video journal collection. JoVE Behavior and JoVE Psychology Education platforms contain hundreds of research “video articles” that demonstrate experiments from top research institutions.

JoVE Behavior Journal includes video articles demonstrating “observational and experimental approaches that seek to understand human and animal behavior.”  JoVE Psychology Education includes a behavioral science collection, which houses videos focusing on concepts of learning, memory, cognition, behavioral disorders and other neuroscience-related topics. JoVE Psychology Education also includes an experimental psychology collection that highlights “how psychological experiments are embedded in the actual research process.”

Cabell’s Blacklist

Starting now and available through May 10, the library is offering access to Cabell’s Blacklist. Cabell’s is known for scholarly analytics related to publishing opportunities. The Blacklist enables users  to search a database of predatory publishers and journals flagged as “probable threats.” By monitoring behavioral indicators, objectivity, transparency and evolving criteria, Cabell’s Blacklist is able to identify fraudulent behaviors and aid scholars in avoiding predatory journals.

Access to these trial databases is available through Helmke’s A-Z list of databases. Please send comments to your librarian or to ref@pfw.edu.
